2024 NSYF Cheerleading Season Information

Coaches Bios

Casey Martyak - Casey began cheerleading when she was 7 years old for her town’s recreational team. She started cheering competitively in middle school, and continued cheering both sideline and competitive in high school. Her high school team competed at the Pennsylvania State Competition and UCA National Competition every year, placing as high as 9th in the nation. Casey was also a four year member of the University of Notre Dame’s Varsity cheerleading team where she cheered the Fighting Irish to victory across a variety of sports. Two years ago, Casey took over as head coach of the North Side Youth Cheerleading team, and she is excited to continue spreading her love of the sport in this upcoming season.

Makayla Sullivan - Makayla has over 14 years of cheerleading experience and 1 year of coaching experience. She has numerous years of tumbling and stunting experience, excelling in a multitude of skills.  Makayla began cheerleading when she was 8 years old for Tri-Town Pop Warner and competed at nationals in Disneyland.  In middle school, she continued to cheer both sidelines and compete at various competitions.  During her high school cheer years, she was on Varsity all four years and her team was state runner-ups her sophomore year.  Makayla was also Captain of the Varsity cheerleading squad her senior year.  Makayla was a four year member of the University of Notre Dame's Varsity cheerleading team where she cheered the Fighting Irish to victory across a variety of sports.  Last year, Makayla joined Casey in coaching the North Side Youth Cheerleading team.  She is excited to help the team grow and help the cheerleaders build skills that will last them a lifetime.

Season Practice, Game, and Date Information

Practice Days - Tuesdays and Thursdays starting August 12th from 4:40 to 6:40, Welles Park (We realize that there are many conflicts in August, please do not hesitate from participating if you know you have conflicts, please contact Coach Casey with questions about August conflicts)

Cheer Game Days - Potentially every Sunday from 9/1 to 10/27, times vary, Depaul College Prep Stadium, 3333 N Rockwell, Chicago

Cost - $350.

Financial Aid - We are a pay what you can afford program.   Financial Aid in a variety of forms is available to anyone who needs it. No payment is due at registration.  Financial aid will be addressed after you register.  Mark Ditsch or Mike Lohman will contact you after you register. 

Additional Requirements - All families are required to participate in our online fundraiser or opt out for an additional fee. 

What's Included? - Everything is included in the fee except for shoes. 

Age Categories  and Team Splits - We expect this year to have an absolute minimum of three age groups and most likely four. Our true goal is even more than that. We will continue to break down on age as enrollment increases.  As enrollment increases within age groups. Additional teams will be created. These additional teams will be created and split in a way that the coaches feel is best for the entire group.
